FINMA now delivers a "FinTech" license

This license is available since January 1st and adds up to the two others measures launched by the Swiss Federal Council in August 2018. It wants to stimulate innovation in new financial technologies and help its financing. This makes it possible for a company to receive public deposits up to CHF 100 millions without falling into the bank category under the law.


A new website dedicated to blockchain technology

This week marked the first time that a large-scale blockchain conference was organized in our region. The Geneva Annual Blockchain Congress, which took place on January 21st, was a great event bringing together Western Switzerland’s growing ecosystem. New Hospitality Innovation Hub in Lausanne

The City of Lausanne and EHL Group sign a convention for the development and rehabilitation of the Lausanne neighborhood of Chalet-à-Gobet, to create the first Innovation Hub dedicated to hospitality in Europe. This new Innovation Hub will host an incubator and several research projects that combine academic research with the flexibility and audacity of young entrepreneurs. This pivotal meeting place reflects EHL’s position as one of the global centers for technological research, innovation and competitiveness.


Biopôle life sciences campus continues to expand

The SB-A building will be dedicated to office and laboratory spaces for companies active in the life sciences field, from young start-ups to sector-leading businesses. With a surface area of approximately 10,000 square metres, the new companies hosted in SB-A could generate up to 300 new jobs, adding to the existing 1,200 life sciences professionals on site.


Swissquote launches its ICO platform

Swissquote now offers its clients a chance to participate in crowdfunding via blockchain technology. Clients will be able to purchase tokens using their account in exactly the same way as they would purchase shares of a publicly listed company. A new center dedicated to cancer research

The freshly inaugurated building (12'000 sqm) in front of the CHUV will welcome about 300 researchers. Agora is the result of a partnership between Universities of Lausanne and Geneva, but also the EPFL and Ludwig Institute as well as the CHUV and HUG. All share the same goal as to enhance translational research in merging clinicians and biologists in the same place.
